The Settlement Class Period is from January 1, 2015, to May 25, 2023.

Case Information+

This class action is called In re Cattle and Beef Antitrust Litigation (Commercial and Institutional Indirect Purchaser Plaintiff Action), Case No. 22-md-3031 and is pending in the United States District Court for the District of Minnesota. Indirect Purchasers claim that Defendants and their co-conspirators engaged in acts to limit the supply, and fix the prices, of beef sold to members of the Settlement Class in the United States.

Indirect Purchaser Plaintiffs have reached a Settlement with JBS. However, the case is still proceeding against other Defendants, which may result in separate settlements, judgments, decisions or class certifications.


Defendants are producers of beef products in the United States. They include JBS USA Food Company, Swift Beef Company, JBS Packerland, Inc., JBS S.A., Cargill, Inc., Cargill Meat Solutions Corporation, National Beef Packing Company, Tyson Foods, Inc., and Tyson Fresh Meats, Inc. Defendants deny all allegations.

Settlement Details+

A settlement has been reached with JBS for $25,000,000, which is subject to court approval. If approved, it will resolve all Settlement Class members’ claims against JBS as detailed in the settlement agreement. JBS will also provide certain cooperation in the continued prosecution of the litigation.


Claim forms are not yet available from the Class Administrator. When claim forms do become available, class members are not required to sign up with any third-party service in order to participate in any monetary relief, but may instead file their claim directly with the Class Administrator. No-cost assistance will be available from the Class Administrator and Class Counsel during the claims filing period.
